Trail Mix

Prep Time

10 minutes

Cooking Time

5-10 minutes

Yields

4 servings

Ingredients

1/4 cup macadamia nuts

1/4 cup hazelnuts

1/4 cup pecans, raw

1/4 cup walnuts, raw

2 tbsp dark chocolate  chips

Coconut oil spray

Himalayan salt

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 250 degrees.
  2. Add any nuts that are already roasted to a bowl (my macadamia nuts and hazelnuts came dry roasted).
  3. Add raw nuts to a pan and lightly toast in the oven for 5-10 minutes, depending on how toasted you like them. I did this in my small convection toaster oven, so they cooked in 5 minutes exactly. A larger oven will take more time.
  4. Remove the nuts from the oven, spray lightly with the coconut oil spray and then sprinkle with salt to your taste.
  5. Allow to cool, then add to the bowl.
  6. Mix in the chocolate chips.

Notes

This recipe is very flexible. Swap out any other nut due to taste, availability, allergy or sensitivity. You can also sub in sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds for any of the nuts. Coconut chips also add another taste and texture to the mix if you have them on hand. I avoid dried fruit due to the high sugar, but if you can find no added sugar dried cherries, sprinkling in a few would add some additional texture and sweetness.
